seagulls cackle in
the fried food and
ketchup air

wet thick
pockets of
warm and cold
sea breezes carry
gleeful screams
from the roller coaster

carnival rides rumble as
a pleasant feminine voice cautions
“watch the tram car please”

the boardwalk throng
ebbs and flows
to the melodic roar
of the tide

life returns to
normal
stronger than the storm
